Stay Safe

If you stall while you’re driving, it’s important to practice safety first. Turn on your hazard lights and attempt to steer to safety, if possible. Keep in mind, it will be much more difficult to steer and stop your vehicle once your engine stalls because you’ll lose your power steering and power brake assist.

Try to Restart

Once you’re at a stop (or if your car was already stopped), you can attempt to restart your vehicle. If you have a manual transmission, your vehicle should be in neutral, and cars with automatic transmissions should be in park. If your vehicle starts, check for any obvious issues such as no fuel or a battery warning light. If you can’t drive your vehicle, you’ll want to call for help from a family member or friend or request roadside assistance.

Attempt to Drive
