How Does Toyota Safety Sense™ Work?
Peace of mind is one of the many benefits of driving a new Toyota SUV. They come equipped with Toyota Safety Sense™, which is an advanced suite of safety and driver-assistance features. Casey Toyota is giving you a closer look at how it works.
Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection™
Toyota Safety Sense™ consists of many different features, each of which works in a different way. Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection™, for example, uses a camera and radar to monitor the road. It can sense if a collision is going to occur, before it does. It gives you audio and visual warnings first and can even apply your brakes, if need be.
Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist™
When you’re driving over 30 mph, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist™ uses a camera to monitor the lane markings on the road. It will issue an audio and visual warning if you start to drift from your lane. If you don’t respond, it can gently provide steering corrections.
Road Sign Assist™
New Toyota SUVs are also equipped with Road Sign Assist™, which uses a forward-facing camera to detect traffic signs. It looks for specific signs, such as speed limit signs and stop signs. Then, it displays the sign information on your Multi-Information Display™ as an added precaution.
Proactive Driving Assist™
Proactive Driving Assist™ provides safety and convenience on every drive. It uses a camera and radar to monitor your driving conditions. When necessary, it can give braking and steering support, such as when it detects you’re getting too close to the vehicle ahead of you.
