What’s New This Year?
For 2024, the Toyota Corolla takes on a darker persona by reintroducing the Nightshade Edition. Based on the SE trim level, this package enhances the vehicle’s appearance with features such as bronze wheels and dark badging.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Powering the Toyota Corolla is a 169-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, transmitting power to the front wheels through a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). A hybrid powertrain option is also offered, but both versions deliver an enjoyable and quiet ride. The sportier SE and XSE trims stand out with a stiffer, sport-tuned suspension and larger 18-inch wheels.
This new Toyota sedan offers an exceptionally fuel-efficient hybrid model alongside the non-hybrid 169-hp 2.0-liter engine. The EPA estimates the front-drive hybrid achieves 50 mpg city and 43 mpg highway, while the all-wheel-drive hybrid is rated for 47 mpg city and 41 mpg highway. In contrast, the non-hybrid engine is estimated to achieve up to 41 mpg on the highway.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The interior of the Toyota Corolla sedan features a streamlined dashboard and soft-touch materials. Passive entry and push-button start are standard features in most models, with additional options available for ambient interior lighting, dual-zone climate control, and heated front seats. The sedan offers plenty of back-seat passenger legroom and 13 cubic feet of trunk volume.
The Toyota Corolla has a touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility and a subscription-based Wi-Fi® hotspot. Premium options include wireless charging capabilities and an enhanced JBL® audio system.
